Bookbusters - MemoryPress Demolition 1
We wanted to learn how strong our books really are. We printed a 200 page generic book on MemoryPress and put it to the test. 45 minutes in an industrial dryer!
Watching myself destroy this book was a humbling experience, I hate seeing myself on film! I kept saying to myself, “I know I am better looking than that”. haha.
Lucky for me my roommate Devin Graham is a film major here at Brigham Young University. He has created his own brand Devine Films.
He just created a 110 min “mocumentary” (pretend documentary) on dance. It won first place among 3000 contestants at iFilm.com. Here is an introduction to his documentary.
Thanks Devin for the help in creating this film!

I don’t know if anybody actually reads this, but PLEASE, PLEASE do not put this video on the home page of your Memory Press site. It is a great tribute to the strength of your books and would be a terrific addition to something like the FAQs or the help section, but it is not a welcoming screen for people who visit your site for the first time. If you must have a video, please make one about someone who receives a Memory Press book and oohs and aahs over how beautiful it is, and what it means to her/him, and what is in it, and how touched and thrilled she/he is.
When someone comes to the home page first, I believe they need to get an instant idea of what the product is, and this video does not show that.
I would not be happy to send my clients to this screen.
Again, I think this video could be used very effectively in another section of the site.
Thanks for considering this –
Sally

Sally,
Thanks so much for the comment. We are thrilled to know that you care so much about the quality of MemoryPress’ homepage.
Not to worry, we are just testing with the idea of the Bookbuster videos on the homepage. You are probably right and if it doesn’t get more people to click further into the website, then we will change it back. On the other hand, if does convert more visitors into customers, then it is going to stay; at least until we find something else that works even better.
I love the idea of a person getting a book and seeing the “oohs and aahs”. I am sure we will make one in time.
At the moment, I do think the video is ugly and if we decide to keep it we will make it more visually appealing to our customers.
So, bear with us as we test, and keep the feedback coming. We love feedback.
Thanks again for the comment.

I agree with Sally. Please the washing machine video should go somewhere else.
Browsing your site, it seems like you have developed an obsession about the features of your book (binding, typesetting, glue, paper, etc.) It’s referred to over and over again. All you have to do I listed it in one place and be done with it. Meanwhile trying to find the most basic information on your site has been challenging. For example what size books/pages are available? How much does a book cost? I fail to see why this information is not readily accessible.

Max,
Thanks for chiming in with Sally. Joe and Liz (MemoryPress support gurus) here totally agree with both of you. We’ll let you know how it does.
To the count of obsession, WE PLEAD GUILTY. We are obsessed with creating the finest book available and educating the people who want to know what that means (This is because we’ve created books on other websites and the quality has been almost terrifying - you deserve to know what makes a lasting book).
That said, you’re absolutely right about the pricing and book sizes. This info is too burried in the pages and should be more obvious…we’ll see if we can’t fix that for you asap. The Show Me How and Price pages are intended to give you an overview of the experience and what you get when you publish with MemoryPress, respectively. Your comments suggest we haven’t yet reached our goal.
The rest of the pages are the fine details for people who want to know more. Thanks for the feedback Max!
